Lots of buzz at the moment about Cabarita. Just 25 minutes north of Byron Bay, its getting the kind of interest that turns a place into the next “hot spot”. After dropping the clunky name of “Bogangar” some time ago, it has reinvented itself a go-to holiday destination in its own right. It has a big new beachfront hotel and some vacant land releases to make room for new comers.
The latest point of interest is Halcyon House. Brisbane hotel family, the Bickles, purchased a dumpy motel on the main drag, added an extra floor, renovated and rebranded it. They seem to be doing everything right, getting lots of media and hiring the right people.
I like to drop in on Cabarita when taking the coast road north. It has a few good coffee shops and the surf break is often working – with a gentle easy right hander off the point that suits an old codger like me. Property prices are a bit more relaxed compared to the Bay but dont expect a bargain. The whole area has come back well with units at Salt and Causarina recovered from the lows of the last few years.
Cabarita Duplex for Sale
If someone is quick this may be a good venture. An ordinary looking duplex on the canal in Cabarita is for sale. It has no strata plan in place and looking for offers over $590,000. Some budding home renovator who has been watchiong those TV shows should come and buy it, renovate both, strata title each one and put it back on the market for a tidy profit.
