The government is dog-whistling again. They are inferring that it is rich Chinese investors are stealing from First Home Owner Buyers in Australia again. The numbers of Chinese investors purchasing existing residential property is very small. In our Northern Rivers area, it’s zero. However, it suits this federal government, and all previous administrations, to find a bogeyman to blame for their own inadequacies in quelling the demand for residential real estate. It is worth remembering that one-third of the cost for a new property is taken up in various state and federal government charges.
