The Northern Rivers Community Foundation had its grants recipient event last month. The NRCF gives away over $200,000 to worthy community groups every year. One of the recipients for 2017 was the Disabled Surfing Association who got these nifty beach wheel chairs. If you ever want to get a good contact high, watching disabled people catch their first wave cannot be matched.

The Northern Rivers Community Foundation has been a leading charity in the Northern Rivers for over ten years. It has over $1M dollars in managed funds and gives away the interest to worthy causes and not-for-profits. Unlike most charities, the money it raises is not given away, just the interest on its investments.
Byron Property Search has been a supporter of NRCF for a number of years and Michael Murray is on the Events and Marketing Sub-committee. NRCF is gearing up for a big year in 2018 and is keen to get more donors and supporters. Please go to the website at nrcf dot org dot au to get more information.
It is fine to check out the social events we will be hosting next year and test the water to see if you are interested. You don’t have to be rich to give; many supporters tithe a small amount each month. Others have notified their accountant to think of us for a bequest in their will.
NRCF also offers management to individuals who want a “Named Fund”. This is if you have a special interest like education or the environment, NRCF can establish a fund to expressly cater to your donation preference.
My preference can be seen in the attached picture – it shows me with one of the new beach wheel chairs the NRCF recently donated and some wave riders. NRCF also supports disabled horse riding and many other worthy groups. If you have been wondering how you can give back to our vibrant and diverse community this may be a good way.
