41 Marine Parade, Wategos Beach
Byron property is about to break another price record. 41 Marine Parade, Wategos Beach, is now known as “Whale Watchers”, is looking for offers over $18.5 million. The listing agent is Liam Annesley from LJ Hooker Byron Bay. The original house was demolished and a complete rebuild took over the site at the far eastern end of Marine Parade.
Peter Mattick purchased it in 2004 for $3.9 million. He runs the ASX listed company Salmat, which provides platform marketing and promotional support for major companies like Woolworths, Target, Telstra as well as the Australian Government. Salmat also runs the “Do Not Call Register” so you now know where to complain for this worthless consumer support system. This sale is expected to exceed the $15.68 million purchase by property developer Danny Goldberg in 2006.
37 Byron Street, New Brighton
The other super top-end listing at the moment is 13 acres of beachfront land in New Brighton. This is a spectacular piece of dirt in a private, secluded enclave with beach frontage on one side and native bushland and reserve on the other. This is blank canvas of perfection for the right cashed-up buyer. If you have to ask the price, it’s not for you. Listed by Julie-Ann Manahan of Raine and Horne Ocean Shores.
Mullumbimby MO share
On the other end of the scale is one of the cheapest properties for sale. I am acting as Vendor Advocate for a client on this 1/10th share of a Multiple Occupancy 10 minutes out of Mullumbimby. It has a solid, reasonable 2-bedroom house but needs some work on the grounds, which are steep and very little flat ground but an excellent view. Owner is asking $340,000. Call me or send an email if you would like to see it.
73 Massinger Street, Byron Bay
This property was just sold by Tara Torkkola from First National Byron Bay for $3M. It is right in the middle of the Byron Bay “Golden Grid”. If you want to see some slick marketing go to YouTube and ask for 73 Massinger Street Byron.
42 Lawson Street Byron Bay
This older style 5 bedroom holiday home is across the home from Main Beach. The 638m2 block will allow for plenty of space for a reno or a rebuild. This is for sale for $4.3 million with Deny Bernardo from Sotheby’s International, Double Bay Sydney.
600 Coolamon Scenic Drive Coorabell
This property has been listed for a while at $3.2M but with how things are moving on the ridge it will probably sell soon. Properties on the north side of the ridge are seeing high demand.
Brunswick Heads vacant land
There was a small parcel of vacant land (4.5 acres) on Tandy’s Lane beside the highway. These parcels come up occasionally and sell cheap, as they do not have a building entitlement. Good for storing stuff or parking vehicles, gardening, camping etc. This one was probably of no further use to the Roads and Maritime Services; they got just over $200K.
11 Pottsville Road Mooball
Good entry-level option is this basic 3 bed 1 bathroom house on a large block in Mooball. The half-acre level block of 2020m2 is close to the local shop and amenities. Listed for $480,000 – 520,000 with Jason Dittmar of Raine and Horne Ocean Shores. Mooball is 30 minutes north of Byron Bay.
“Play Misty” house for sale
(Sourced from EPS Property Search)
Fans of 1970’s independent film need to get on a plane with a sizeable chunk of change. While much of Clint Eastwood’s creepy 1970s film ‘Play Misty For Me’ was shot elsewhere, most movie fans remember the final scene, which featured his character’s cliff-top home perched 200 feet above the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean.
So it’s all about location (Carmel, CA), location (the ocean), location (its history as a movie set) for the current owners, who have placed the house on the market for US$11.9 million.
