Amelika, 28 Blackbean Lane, Federal
Amalika is a luxury home in Federal with an interesting history. Designed and built by local award-winning architect Sharon Fraser in 2008, it was sold to Tom and Emma Lane, the entrepreneurs behind ‘The Farm”. They purchased it in 2011 for $4 mil.
It was last sold in 2015 for $3.5 million to Sarah and Andrew Johnson, who managed to pick up the designer digs for half a million dollars less than it previously sold for. They have done some work on it and were able to do some good business as a short-term rental with a $4000 a night price tag.
Last year it was the venue for the reality TV show “Love Island”. The first choice was a property in Port Douglas, but the production company had to quickly pivot when Queensland locked the border. The production nearly had its lights put out by the council when one of the crew came to town with COVID and went out to several venues instead of staying in iso.
The 8-bedroom, 4-bathroom house sits on 10 Ha in Federal. The agent is Nick Dunn from Byron Bay McGraths. Expressions of Interest close on August 19th and the range is expected to be $11.5 – $12.5 Mil.
