Local Travel Biz Goes Big
A few years ago, this newsletter noted how the biggest employer in Byron Bay was no longer a chicken abattoir but an online travel company. That was a comment on how Byron and local businesses were changing. It is now significant that the same online travel company, TripADeal has now sold a 51% share to Qantas.
The two principals, Richard Johnston and Norm Black, (pictured) did not disclose the sale price. Qantas CEO stated the company was looking forward to chasing inorganic growth opportunities as the travel market revives after two years of virus-enforced turmoil.
