The floods have bought out the best in our community. Lots of individuals and community groups have rallied around and offered support. I have a friend who works as a nurse and social worker at Tweed and Byron hospitals. He told me that the real human costs happen a few weeks after the main disaster event. Northern Rivers Community Foundation
The Northern Rivers Community Foundation have teamed up with the Byron Community Centre to assist flood victims. This is a well run Org and the BCC have deep roots in the community.
Resilient Byron is a new-ish community org attempting to fill the gaps between existing community volunteer organisations and government bodies around resilient response and planning.
Mullumbimby and District Neighbourhood Centre
The MNDC have really stepped up and come to the fore for this recent crisis. Together with the Civic Centre and space at the RSL across the road have been at the core of the action.
